Craft brews of the west coast

This site aims to provide you with a deeper understanding and appreciation for beer. We are not here to tell you what you should like or not like, after all you are the only one who really knows what you like. However, we understand it is sometimes difficult to 'get' the craft beer thing when the macro-breweries own the advertising space. With that in mind we hope to encourage you to venture out and support your local micro-brewers, they typically have better quality ingredients and offer something the big guys don't... variety.

If you live in California, Oregon or Washington we have provided a pretty comprehensive list of micro-breweries. Some of these companies may have local or regional distribution, but many will only brew enough to serve on premises. Look them up and give them a try and support your local/regional economy at the same time.

Recommended Sites and Books

  • www.bjcp.org - Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), Learn about beer.  This organization trains beer judges, develops beer style sheets and much more.
  • The Brewmaster's Table, by Garrett Oliver - If you like food and you like beer, why not read a book that will enhance the enjoyment of both?  This is a great read from a man who knows a thing or two about his craft.

Craft Beer Radio

If you like craft beer you're going to love these guys.  Each week Greg and Jeff discuss brewing news, listener emails, interviews and - of course - craft beers.  These guys are some of the best available and we think you'll agree.

Support Your Local Brewer

This is more than a nice slogan intended to make you feel better.  Your local brewers do more for your local economies than you may realize, especially if you live in California, Oregon or Washington.

Beer Serves America has compiled data that clearly explains this benefit.  Check out their state by state data sheets and smile the next time you lift a cool pint of your local brewed beer.
