S.O.B.E.R Meeting at Jose’s house
Posted by Jeff Barber
Last Friday, the S.O.B.E.R group (and a few select other guests) held a long overdue meeting to discuss the complexities and highlights of some very good beers, and enjoy Jose’s excellent cooking.Â
While it’s always fun to get together with good friends, doing it with a selection of great beers and food is even better. My original plan was to take some tasting notes but due to the size of our beer list, this soon became impossible. As a result, here’s the list of beers we enjoyed (kind of in order).
Â
Auburn Alehouse Pilsner (growler)
Big Sky Cherry Ale
Sierra Nevada Kellerweiss
Allagash White
Alaskan White
2008 Sierra Nevada Harvest Wet Hop
2009 Sierra Nevada S. Hemisphere Wet Hop
Sam Adams Imperial Pilsner
New Belgium Mothership Wit
Deschutes Red Chair IPA (growler)
Bear Republic Racer 5
Green Flash Tripel
Chimay Red
2008 Stone Vertical Epic
Dogfish Head Midas Touch
Sac Brewing Independence Ale (growler)
2007 North Coast Old Stock
La Fin du Monde
Deschutes Mirror Mirror
Somewhere in there, the Beer Geek also brought out a bottle of Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka. Being a fan of higher end vodkas on the rocks, this was a great treat. Smooth even after it was chilled enough to not add ice, this was excellent. We can only hope his friend makes another trip over form Poland soon.
All in all, it was a great night with great friends. It was also a great time to be living across the street so we could stumble home. And thanks to Jose and his wife, Lisa, for their hospitality and cooking!
One last thing, where in the hell was Rick?

Where the hell was Rick? Man, I wish I could have made it. As is, I’ve dropped off the face of the earth for a while and will reappear in Scotland soon. Bummed to miss out, but sounds like a good time.
Scotland? Hoot mon! Have fun.
What a spectacular night…..and part of the next day! Great job Jose and company!
